In the last week of Spring term, Year 10 food and cookery students experienced a behind the counter visit to McDonald’s at Trafford Retail Park.

As part of their Level 2 Food and Cookery  course, food hygiene and safety is taught as an integral part of every lesson when preparing, cooking and serving foods.

To see these classroom lessons come to life in the real world, students were invited for a tour of the McDonald’s kitchens, to meet employees and see strict hygiene rules in practise.

Miss Jones, Teacher of Food and Nutrition, said:

“All students must successfully demonstrate and apply the principles of food safety and hygiene when cooking; this trip to McDonald’s showed the restaurant in action and the strict levels of hygiene rules that employees follow.

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visit, especially as they were able to prepare and taste their own McDonald’s burger!”
