Youth Travel Ambassadors Launch Travel Campaign

Wellacre’s team of Youth Travel Ambassadors (YTA) are pleased to launch their campaign to encourage more students, staff and parents to choose Active Travel.

Launching on Monday 10th October, Wellacre’s Active Travel competition will offer a half-termly prize of £25 and is open to all!

To enter, students and staff are being challenged to choose to walk or cycle to school each day, or in combination with public transport, rather than come by car.  Everyone can then be entered into the regular prize draws throughout the year.

Wellacre’s YTA, as part of the co-curricular programme last year, have worked alongside Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) to develop their campaign and deliver a Dragon’s Den pitch to secure £500 to bring their campaign to life!

As part of the campaign launch, the team will be sharing the benefits of Active Travel through assemblies and a specially created video.  More information will be available in an Active Travel display in school.

Why Choose Active Travel?

Mrs Eagling, Teacher of Maths and co-ordinator of the YTA project, said:

“I’m so proud of the commitment and achievements of this young team and how they have used their voice to raise funding for the campaign. We ask for your support and encourage everyone to join in with the Active Travel competition in some way; any small change in the way we travel can have a significant impact in the future.”

Mrs Sharrock, Principal said:

"The group have made great strides in their work with superb support from Mrs Eagling. Well done all!"
