Remembrance 2021

Wellacre joined together to reflect on Remembrance 2021 through a range of activities both in school and the community, with Wellacre’s CCF cadet unit playing a significant role.

On Remembrance Day, the proceedings began with a whole school assembly, delivered by Mrs O’Neill as well as a collective 2-minute silence. It was beautifully observed by all.

The CCF’s special Remembrance Parade at school, led by SSI Ward, paid tribute to service heroes and our cadets proudly stood in remembrance of the sacrifices made by others.

Mr Jackson, Wellacre’s Creative Technologies Technician, played a wonderful rendition of ‘The Last Post’ on the bugle.

The CCF cadets also represented Wellacre at two local Remembrance parades in Flixton and Urmston on Sunday 14th November.

SLt Baker accompanied cadets as they joined the march through Urmston town centre towards the Davyhulme Cenotaph and SSI Ward gathered more cadets for a Flixton community service to commemorate the occasion.

Mrs Sharrock, Principal, said:

“The students were respectful and an absolute credit to the school when we reflected as a community on Remembrance Day. I would like to thank the CCF unit staff and cadets for their hard work in organising and leading the activities, as well as representing Wellacre with such pride in the community.”

Thanks to all the CCF cadets for their dedication and effort at the practice drills each night prior to the Remembrance services and also for supporting the Royal Legion’s Poppy Appeal by selling poppies throughout school.
