Welcoming Year 6 Pupils to Wellacre

Primary Transition Day 2023

Wellacre was pleased to welcome almost 300 local primary school pupils for Trafford’s Primary Transition Day.

Year 6 students from Acre Hall, St. Michael’s, Urmston, Davyhulme, Woodhouse and Flixton primary schools took part in the inspiring transition event on 22nd September.

The locally coordinated annual event ensures boys and girls have the opportunity to experience the secondary school environment, to participate in the KS3 curriculum and to support the transition from primary to secondary school.

  

As well as navigating the school site, pupils also took part in a wide variety of exciting and engaging curriculum activities from artist-inspired monster doodles in Art, a problem-solving horse-race in Maths, bunsen burner safety in Science, ukulele lessons in Music, exploring the Titanic in History and team-building challenges in PE.

Mr Caslake, Director of Transition, said:

“We value Wellacre’s Primary Day highly as it offers Year 6 pupils a fantastic opportunity to experience life and lessons here, and also alleviates concerns about the upcoming transition process. 

“A huge thank you to all our primary schools, teachers and students for making the Primary Transition Day such a success.”

Wellacre ambassadors supported the day, escorting their former primary school throughout.  Well done to Arthur, Dantae, Dhiren, Fletcher, George, Jake, Matthew, Max H, and Noah, Year 7, Sonny, Year 8, Max F, Year 9, and Zane, Jack R, and Sam, Year 11, for their commitment and pride.  

  

We were delighted to receive positive feedback from the schools involved. Davyhulme primary school commented:

“Our children at Davyhulme Primary thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, and I feel sure that it will really help to smooth the transition process for many of our pupils. I was so impressed by the whole day. Your students were a credit to the school - so polite, helpful, respectful and kind. I know that many of our pupils really enjoyed talking with them about life at Wellacre.”
