Silver Success for Toby

Year 8 Toby Wins Silver in Karate

We are proud to share the news that Year 8 student, Toby, is a silver medal winner following the Chojinkai Karate / Cumbrian Open in September.

The competition was his first in 18 months with his competition squad, Yanagi.  He competed in several rounds of kata, showcasing a sequence of moves, to win silver. 

Toby said: 

“It was great to get back to competing, I’ve not been able to do them because of covid. I really enjoy competitions!”

Toby has competed previously in the English Championship, British Championships and also travelled to the Hamburg Open in Germany where he won Gold. 

He trains with Sale dojo and has achieved his 3rd brown belt, training for 7 years, 2-3 times a week.  His next goal is to work towards his black belt.
