Wellacre hosts Learning Support event

On Thursday 13th December, Wellacre’s Learning Support team hosted a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Parents’ Forum.

Wellacre hosts these events throughout the year to provide regular opportunities for parents and carers of students with SEND to meet the Learning Support team working with their son and to liaise about the bespoke provisions in place for them, as well as any concerns.

Wellacre’s SENDCo and Teaching Assistants meet with parents and carers to discuss their sons’ additional needs and progress, in particular, how any Year 7 students with SEND have found the transition process from primary to secondary.

Overall, 100% of parents and carers of SEND students rate the support provided for their son as ‘Excellent’ or ‘Good’.   Positive parental feedback from the evening included:

"We are very pleased with the way staff address my son's personal academic needs. He's been a lot happier since attending Wellacre and, although he struggles, he has a good support network from school/home which benefits him"

"My son is well supported by the SEN staff; if I have any concerns, I know who to contact."

"My son has been well supported and provided for in school."

A special ‘thank you’ to Year 11 students, Sean and Matthew, for assisting at the event.
