Celebrating Achievement at Wellacre

On 13th July, Wellacre welcomed parents, carers, governors and staff to the Rewards and Recognition Evening, in celebration of the significant achievements of students in Years 7 to 10.

On stage, Mrs Sharrock, Principal, was joined by Mr Pemberton, Vice Principal, Mr Linton, Leader of PE, Heads of Houses, and Mrs Henry, a Trustee of the Governing Board.

Wellacre students were nominated for a wide range of awards that recognised academic, sporting, House contributions, leadership and co-curricular achievement. 

Special awards were also given to those who have made significant contributions to the Wellacre community

Turing Outstanding Contribution: Jack H, Yr 10

Pankhurst Outstanding Contribution: Oliver, Yr 10

Lowry Outstanding Contribution: Jack R, Yr 10

Sports Leader of the Year - Zackary A, Yr 8: As a Sports Ambassador, Zackary has been an outstanding leader at primary events from basketball to swimming. 

Team of the Year Award - Yr 7 Football Team: Unbeaten in the Trafford League, the Year 7 team successfully reached the 7-a-side Manchester United finals. 

Charlotte Sant Award - Yr 8 Noah: Noah received this award for resilience, determination and courage, and for attending every school sports club from cricket to table tennis!

Sportsperson of the Year - Oscar, Yr 8: As a valued member of the school rugby and athletics teams, Oscar has enjoyed success in school. Outside of school, he has achieved four Golds in Nationals, two Golds in British Championships and two World Golds in Jiu Jitsu. 

The Sue Moscow Award (Sponsored by Intergen) - Wasim, Yr 9: Wasim was selfless with his time, patience and support with the induction of new arrivals to the Wellacre community this year.

Governor’s Award - Zachary T, Yr 8: Described as a positive student who is always smiling, Zach shows great resilience and aspiration every day. He has become a valued member of the CCF Cadets, achieved a first class grade in the Scholars Programme and trained as a Wellacre Buddy to support others. 

Principal’s Award - George, Yr 8: George is a polite, positive and valued member of the school community, and a role model for other students. He has represented the school a huge number of times in the community from tap dancing at a local care home to singing in the school choir at a Flixton Christmas festival.

Principal, Mrs Sharrock, said: 

“It is an absolute pleasure to welcome over 300 students and families for the annual Rewards and Recognition Evening, and to witness the pride and sense of achievement in all the recipients of awards.It was a hugely enjoyable evening for all. Thank you to our parents and carers for their ongoing support of our policies and practices. The students’ achievements are a result of our effective partnership.”
