Success for Wellacre Students

We are incredibly proud of the students who collected their GCSE and BTEC results this year.

The students have had an incredible journey over the past five years and have shown tremendous resilience in meeting the extraordinary challenges during that time. We are so pleased with the outcomes secured through their hard work and their wider achievements; many of which can never be ‘graded’.

Students have listened to and acted upon the advice from the committed staff at Wellacre and deserve every success. We would also like to thank all our parents and carers who have worked so willingly in partnership with us this year.

There are a number of students worthy of a special mention: George Knowles and Nicky Li, Head Boy and Senior Deputy Head Boy respectively in 2022-23, celebrated together with outstanding results.

Nicky, a former St. Anne’s Primary School pupil, is a gifted student and musician, and has excelled in leadership roles at Wellacre. He achieved Grade 9 in Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography and Chinese, and Grade 8 in English Literature and Language, Maths, Biology and Physics.

Reflecting on his success, Nicky said:

“I feel so overwhelmed with joy; I’m really proud to meet everyone’s expectations. I’m most pleased with the Grade 9 in Computer Science because it’s the subject I want to pursue.”

Nicky will embark on  A Levels in Computer Science, Maths and Physics at Urmston Grammar and dreams of following a university pathway in Computer Science and pursuing a career in Cyber Security.

He is excited about his next steps and said:

“I’ve made so many memories at Wellacre; it’s hard to move on but I’m excited about the next chapter. It’s great to end my time at Wellacre on a good note!”

George joined Wellacre from St Mary’s CE Primary School and flourished into a strong school leader and ambassador. He celebrated Grade 9 in Chemistry, Physics and Computer Science, Grade 8 in Maths, Biology and History, Grade 7 in English Language, and Grade 6 in English Literature.

 George said:

“I’m ecstatic, so happy and lost for words! I didn’t want to have too high expectations so to finally see my results has made today even more memorable. I am most proud of my Physics and Computer Science Grade 9 results as these are the subjects I’m most passionate about. The Computer Science exam was so hard, so I’m thrilled with the result.

George moves on to Urmston Grammar School to study A Levels in Maths, Computer Science and History.

He added:

“It’s been so memorable at Wellacre and the time has flown by, but I’m really happy and excited to move on.”

"We are so proud of everything the students have achieved and recognise the challenges they have faced as the examination system returned to pre-pandemic grading this year. We all wish the students every success and much happiness as they move on to pastures new. I would like to thank them for the contribution they have made to the Wellacre community during their time here. I hope they will keep in touch and let us know how they are getting on in the rich and varied destinations they have chosen for next year."
