Wellacre’s Sport Ambassadors

We are proud to introduce Wellacre’s next generation of young leaders - the new team of Sport Ambassadors, from Year 7 to 9.

The objective of Wellacre’s Sport Ambassadors is to promote PE and sport in school, the wider community and Trafford.

As part of their role, they will promote sport, and inspire other young people to get involved in sport in a wide range of settings within their local communities, including schools, clubs and community organisations.

In their first assignment, the team were selected to represent Wellacre and officiate at a Trafford Primary Swimming Gala for Year 4 and 5 children at Stretford Leisure Centre.  

Organisers, the Trafford School Sports Partnership, said on Twitter:

“Wellacre’s Sport Ambassadors did a fantastic job. They were enthusiastic and disciplined. It was great to have them all involved.”

As they develop their responsibilities, the team will help Wellacre’s PE Department to influence key aspects of school sport, including extra-curricular sport provision, links to community sport opportunities, opportunities for competition, celebration of student achievements in sport, and leadership opportunities for young people.  

Mr Whitehead, Teacher of PE, said:

“We are confident that our team of Sport Ambassadors will do a great job of motivating others to get involved in sport and will help develop Wellacre’s provision so it can be the very best that it can be.” 

The Sport Ambassadors will undertake roles at further Trafford School Sports Partnership events at Sale Leisure Centre and Stretford Sports Village this term.
