At Wellacre, author visits are an important part of the wider curriculum and they help encourage reading for pleasure, which is an ambition for all our students.

Students were greeted by Tom in Wellacre’s library for an inspirational and interactive story-writing masterclass.

Tom first discussed how he came up with ideas for all his stories and then invited students to take part in a  competitive quiz and other games to unlock their imaginations and release their creativity!

With a variety of historical artefacts to discover and explore, Tom helped students create lots of story ideas inspired by the objects.

Mrs Stirling, Assistant Leader of English, said:

“Tom Palmer is a really popular author at Wellacre and it was a great opportunity for students to meet and connect with him.

“They found the artefact activity really inspiring and I was proud to hear all the creative and interesting story plot and character ideas they came up with!”
