Wellacre Joins Community Clean Up Event

Once again, Wellacre pledged to support Trafford Council’s Great British September Clean event, organised by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

Running from 11th - 27th September, the campaign encourages local people to clean up their streets, parks and open spaces across Trafford.

Schools, community groups and businesses were invited to show they love where they live and support the campaign.

Teacher of Geography, Mrs Doolan, asked Wellacre ‘Litter Heroes’ in Year 7 to volunteer to take action in the school’s local area.

She said:

“I was really pleased to take groups of enthusiastic Year 7 students out into the community to collect, dispose and recycle litter.  Supporting The Great British September Clean is another great way that Wellacre students show how seriously they take their environmental duties!”

In conjunction with the Great British September Clean, students were invited to design a colourful and creative poster to promote the recycling of plastic and paper in school.  We are proud to also announce the winners of the House competition to create a recycling poster for school.  The winner, Sam, Year 8, will now have their fantastic poster printed and displayed around school.

Well done to our winners who each receive both House and Achievement Points!

Wellacre is continuing it’s Environmental Ambassador programme this year, which aims to improve the environment and ensure sustainability.  This term, representatives from each Tutor Group have been invited to step up and help support the recycling of plastics from their classroom.
