Achieving the Gold Award again, is testament to the hard work and dedication of staff, and recognises Wellacre’s commitment to professional development.

Following the previous Gold Award in 2019, and despite the context of the pandemic, Wellacre has remained focused on continual improvement and a school-wide culture of ‘always learning.’

CPD for staff within school has gone from strength-to-strength, benefitting the school by boosting staff performance, retention, morale and recruitment, and also having a strong impact on student outcomes.

Key areas of strength highlighted the CPD audit include:

*  CPD champions provide clear leadership and planning, inviting all staff to contribute to and engage in decision-making and development;

*  The positive culture of the CPD programme ensuring staff, and their ideas, feel valued and an important part of critical to their own development; and

*  Leaders seek out new challenges and responsibilities for individuals based on their strengths and needs, meaning staff feel supported to grow and develop in their careers.

Wellacre places a high value on CPD and professional learning sits at the heart of everything the school does, and TDT confirmed that this was reflected in the positive survey data and staff interviews.

On hearing the good news, Mrs Sharrock, Principal, said:

“We are really proud to be one of only a handful of schools in the country to have achieved ‘double gold’ status. Credit goes to Mrs Partridge for her relentless enthusiasm and highly effective leadership of Teaching, Learning and CPD, and to all the staff who demonstrate continued commitment to their ongoing professional development and learning in such a wide variety of teaching and support roles.’’
