Wellacre invites local primaries for science show

As part of Wellacre’s primary school liaison programme, we invited Trafford primary school children to join us for an exciting Flash Bang science show.

The young audience was made up of Year 4 and 5 students from Gorse Hill Primary School and Victoria Park Primary School, alongside Year 5 from Moss Park Primary.

The popular and exciting Flash Bang show was delivered by Dr Frank Mair for the University of Manchester’s School of Chemistry.  Flash Bang showcases science in action and offers an introduction to atoms, molecules, solids, liquids and gases.

Mr Casey, Transition Co-ordinator, said:

“It was an exhilarating, visual spectacle for these pupils.   Each experiment was met with a great response from everyone, which seemed to increase with the scale of each chemical reaction!”

Dr Mair demonstrated to the pupils that chemistry is a creative subject with a series of colourful and noisy chemical reactions causing flashes, bangs and explosions during the show.

Through partnering with the University of Manchester, Wellacre’s aim is to show just how exciting Science can be and encourage future scientists and engineers.
