Taking Maths Further

Wellacre students were invited to take part in a special event to explore further mathematics at the University of Manchester.

The team of talented Year 11 mathematicians attended the ‘Taking Maths Further’ day to participate in a series of talks to explore the opportunities for studying and careers in the subject. 

Students also worked in teams to apply current and A level knowledge to solve challenging maths puzzles, for example, balancing a range of items precisely on a child’s hanging mobile.

Mrs Hill, Teacher of Mathematics, said:

“This was a valuable experience for Wellacre students to learn about the various pathways in Maths.  They also displayed fantastic teamwork; Wellacre boys were highlighted for their exceptional team effort on a poster, which presented their investigations throughout the day, and were pleased to receive Rubik’s cubes!”
