Year 11 Visit Local Churches

In December, Year 11 GCSE students were welcomed by local churches to support their learning in lessons on worship and practices in Christianity.

In their GCSE RE studies, students have been learning how Christians worship and how this varies among different denominations.

During their visits to St John’s Church and St. Monica’s Church, in Flixton, students were invited to ask questions to Rev Debbie and Father Kieron to help them develop a deeper understanding.

They also explored the churches to see key features, which support and facilitate worship.

Teacher of Religious Studies, Mrs Irwin, said:

“The visits allowed students to see first hand how Christians worship and the subtle differences between each church's execution and understanding of the practises.

“Students made excellent use of the visits to ask probing questions. We were all incredibly thankful to Rev Debbie and Father Kieron for allowing us to visit at a busy time in the church year!”
