On the 25th September, a Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) team of staff and students departed for a 3-day tour of Paris.

Accompanied by Miss Bailey, Mrs Horridge and Mr Baker, 29 students from Years 8 to 10 took the opportunity to explore France's capital, world-renowned as a global centre for art, food and culture.

The MFL adventure was organised to enable students to fully  immerse themselves in French culture.  At Wellacre, students study a unit all about Paris in Year 7 and this excursion allowed them to see the city and its culture firsthand.  Students also jumped at the chance to practise their French-speaking skills!

With a base at the Premiere Classe Pont de Suresnes in Suresnes, the group donned their best walking shoes and enjoyed jam-packed days of sightseeing in Paris!

They toured historic landmarks including Sacré Coeur Basilica, Château de Versailles, Jardin des Tuileries, Place du Carrousel and the Louvre Museum and marvelled at the city landscape during a Seine River cruise.

Miss Bailey, Leader of MFL, said:

“The trip was an overwhelming success and everyone loved exploring Paris!  The boys thoroughly enjoyed talking French and took every opportunity to say 'bonjour' to staff at the hotel and at places we visited. Most students also ordered themselves an ice-cream from a vendor in French, and she commented on what 'lovely, polite young men' they were.”

Following the trip, we received a wonderful email from a parent, who said:

“My son has had an amazing time, and it has given him so much confidence now that he can do things on his own. I think this will stay in his memory forever.”
