Student Takes Anti-Bullying Campaign to Former School

As part of Wellacre’s Transition Programme for new students joining the school in September, former Highfield Primary School pupil, Alfie, was pleased to be invited back to speak to Year 5 and 6.

Alfie first spoke with Year 6 pupils who will soon be joining Year 7 at Wellacre.  As well as discussing life at high school, he also answered their questions about uniform, classes and extracurricular activities.

As the lead of Wellacre’s team of Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, Alfie took the opportunity to speak to Year 5 and 6 pupils about his role and the campaign to raise awareness of support available at Wellacre.

Alfie said:

“It was good to go back to my old primary school with the message that at Wellacre there is a strong anti-bullying ethos and that there is always someone to talk to if you need help or support.”

Highfield pupils heard about all the initiatives coordinated by the team of Anti-Bullying Ambassadors, from Years 8 to 10, with the support of Assistant Head of House, Mr Dougherty, including drop-in sessions, peer mentoring and a reporting system.

At Wellacre, students are able to find a teacher or an Anti-bullying Ambassadors wearing their badges to find support.  All ambassadors have undergone rigorous training to be in a position to provide help and advice.

When speaking to all Year 5 and 6, there were plenty more questions, from the pupils as well as the teachers, about homework, rewards and detentions!

Alfie added:

“One of the teachers said it was really good to see an ex-pupil moving on to become an Anti-bullying Ambassador at Wellacre and returning to promote this in school.”

Wellacre’s Anti-Bullying Ambassadors have completed The Diana Award training programme and are now currently working towards their Student Wellbeing badge.  The visit to Highfield Primary School will support their efforts to gain this award.
