Year 7 Learn Anti-Bullying Strategies

Year 7 explored bullying issues in Drama lessons, with an opportunity to reflect on the impact on young people and to highlight anti-bullying strategies.

During a class discussion, the students identified three types of bullying - emotional, cyber and physical - and explored scenarios using freeze frames and thought tracks.

From this exercise, the students created performances that showed the effect that bullying can have on individuals by taking on roles of ‘bully’, ‘target’ and ‘upstanders’ (the person who acts to stop the bullying.)

Mrs Tickle, Teacher of Performing Arts, said:

“The Year 7 boys used their vocal skills,  facial expression and body posture to ensure the audience knew how their character was feeling.  They created ambitious and creative pieces of drama that showed the significant impact of bullying and performances that they can be really proud of.”
