Year 11 Student Performs in Community Production

We were very proud to hear about Year 11 student, Michael, treading the boards as part of Urmston Musical Theatre’s production of ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’

After a long break due to Covid, Michael joined the Urmston group at Christmas to work on the musical production, joining the cast and chorus.

During the Easter break, the show opened for a week and Michael performed the part of a homeless man.  His character also acted as a scene-setter and wandered amongst the audience ahead of the show, creating atmosphere and excitement.

Michael has his sights firmly set on a career in the performing arts and hopes to join Pendleton College in September to embark on an Acting Triple Vocational course. He said:

“It was really good to be part of a theatre show after such a long break; we’re starting on the Wizard of Oz next and I’ll play the Wizard!”

Michael has performed in Wellacre’s school productions since joining in Year 7, including Oliver, We Will Rock You and Wizard of Oz.

Most recently, he has successfully completed his BTEC Performing Arts exams, which involved three written exams, preparing and performing a performance, and producing a performance log.

We wish Michael all the luck in his GCSEs and following his dreams in acting!
