Wellacre Academy is an excellent school in which to work and learn. A view shared by Ofsted who described the school in 2008 as ‘an outstanding and happy school which knows itself very well.’ The Academy has enjoyed 14 consecutive years of ‘best ever’ results at KS4 with over 97% of our students gaining 5+ A*-C in 2011. Over the last five years the Academy has been in the top 20% of all schools nationally for value added pupil progress. Situated in Trafford, amid spacious and well planned grounds overlooking the fields of the Mersey Valley, we are a popular over-subscribed 11-16 boys school with a co-educational Sixth form and approximately 1100 students on roll. As a ‘High Performing Specialist School’ we opened a state of the art £7 million, 300 place co-educational Sixth form in September 2009. September 2010 saw the opening of our £0.5 million Ecology Centre which is further enhancing the learning opportunities for our students. As a National Support School providing support to other schools in Greater Manchester, we seek to appoint excellent teaching practitioners with a proven record of raising pupil achievement.
